We Survived the Swine!!!...I think...

Well, the week before last was a little crazy for our little family. I took Grant to the doctor and Monday because he had flu like symptoms and a pretty bad fever the night before. Needless to say, Grant was hysterical at the doctor's office. The doctor decided just to treat Grant for the flu since he looked like a classic case. We both went home for a nap after the emotional dr. visit. After our nap...I too, woke up with flu like symptoms. I called the same dr. and the nurse wrote me up for a prescription for tamiflu as well.
As Grant was on the road to recovery...the worst was still ahead for me. To make a long story short....one emergency room visit later...it was decided that I had a bad reaction to the tamiflu! I had to stop taking it and I had fever on and off for a few days after that.
Luckily...we have all survived and Kirk remarkably did not get sick at all. He must have some natural immunity because he was surrounded by germs and did not even get a runny nose!
Get your flu shots people!!! This virus was NOT mild!!! I missed a full week of work and I am still a little weak one week later! I certainly was surprised by this darn swine virus...

Glad to hear you are getting better. We are holding our breath that we miss getting it here. It's hard enough when the little ones are sick, but a real double whammy when you can't hold your own head up off of the pillow.
Kirk got all of his natural immunity from his Dad bringing everything home from the office + a dose of Ipecac when he ate a bottle of vitamins! (It will be a cold day in ____ before he ever heaves again).

My ma speaks wisdom. I definitely do not like to throw up. It was a little funny that my office folks decided to quarantine me by making me stay at home so I didn't cross contaminate my colleagues. But it's been great not having to wipe Grant's nose every couple minutes and also trying to keep Lola from playing with Jackie's tissues. Life is great.

Aunt Mary says 'Hi'
She can't get over how big Grant is.

I'm so glad you're better now! I had no idea you were battling this! :( I'm like Kirk... I haven't thrown up since I was 10 yrs old. I just won't do it. I'm SO grateful for a high-ish immunity! Let me know if you're down again and what I can do to help!!
